After 9 years together, we finally tied the knot last year, and as we approach our first anniversary in a few weeks, I am so excited to finally reveal all of the little details! Our day was a complete dream that was infinitely better than we could have ever imagined. Our family came together when we needed it most, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their love and support.
What I Wore
We were married in the same church as my Husband’s Grandmother, so to honour the family connection, my lovely Mother-in-Law kindly offered the hairpiece that her Mom wore when she walked down the same aisle years before. It was such a beautiful gesture that I will always be so grateful for.
My incredible Momma
The earrings that my Momma wore on her wedding day to my Dad. It was so nice feeling so connected to our family throughout the day
Sweet heart neck, trumpet silhouette, Kenneth Winston Dress. I had the lace on the trim of the dress duplicated on my veil also
We were the third generation, and fourth couple from the family to be married at our church in Vancouver
This was a very special moment for me. Carter’s ring was my Grandfather’s who is no longer with us. My Grandma was able to be at the wedding to see this moment, a short 6 months before she also passed. I love seeing his ring every day as a reminder of their love
Being piped out of the church to Pumpkins Fancy by the very best friend and bagpiper around, Alan Walters was a complete dream. I love listening to that song now- it takes me right back to that feeling of being newly pronounced Husband and Wife
Transportation Part 1
We didn’t put much emphasis on our getaway vehicle from the Church to the Reception because the big surprise is a few photos down….But, we did need a vehicle to get from the Church to the Airport, and I figured we would just drive one of our own. Of course, C surprised me with a vintage Bentley! In hindsight it was really nice to have the time alone together to just be newlyweds for a few minutes before getting to the reception
Transportation, Part 2
Why yes, you are seeing that right. We really did fly into our reception, and yes, it was as unbelievable as it sounds. Also, being married to a taller, more handsome, cooler James Bond is also as unreal as it sounds. This was one of those moments that I still can’t really believe happened. For all the incredible experiences we have had together, I still tell people about this and think, who gets to do that? It is so surreal
The Venue and Little Details
Being involved in flying, I pretty much knew from day one that we would get married at the airport. As an event planner, it seemed like a dream come true to have our wedding in such a personal space that we know so well, and that could be used so creatively. Plus, ya, we could fly in!
We did passed appetizers, food trucks for mains, and mini doughnuts and milkshakes for dessert- it was really the perfect combination of all of our favourite things
