From Portsmouth we found our way to Lincolnville Maine. Along the way we stopped at:
the Kittery Outlets– definitely worth it! We got some amazing deals!
The Bush family vacation home in Kennenbunkport. Both Bush Sr and Jr along with their families were home while we were there. Not only am I a supporter of their party but I really admire the Bush’s for their lifelong dedication to public service, however even if you aren’t a fan, the drive along Ocean Drive is absolutely worth it to take in the views and do some real estate shopping
We then made our way to Rockland for the Maine Lobster Festival. It was a neat experience to sit on the dock and pick out the lobster you are going to eat, however it was very very busy and you had to pay to get in to the carnival area before paying for lunch. We found we could have the same experience at any restaurant we visited without paying an entry fee also.
On to the beautiful, quiet town of Camden. A lovely town along the water with adorable shops and great restaurants. From there we made the quick 15 minute drive to Lincolnville and this little paradise known as The Inn at Ocean’s Edge. I am not even sure where to begin other than to say, STAY HERE! If you follow along you know that we prefer chain hotels that have rewards programs (SPG & Fairmont are our picks) and usually avoid smaller inn’s but this was soo worth straying from the norm.
We didn’t really have a choice because the whole coast consists of bed and breakfasts and inn’s- I am just glad we took the time to find the good ones. This beautiful hotel sits on 22 acres of beachfront property has 3 options for accommodations, the main house, the hilltop house and the two luxury poolhouse suites. Your stay includes breakfast, access to the pool and hottub, beaches, and gym facilities. I think the photos speak for themselves- so enjoy!
