CWM and I took a long weekend, extended it a bit and went on an awesome roadtrip through New England. I feel so lucky living in Ottawa that we get to explore all these places that are right at our doorstep. I will get into the details of each leg post by post since I took, oh about 500 pictures, so lets start at the beginning, and don’t forget to check back to get all the details on what New England has to offer! Here is a little sneak peak of the route we took and what spots we will be covering…
The tone of the whole trip was set by our first stop once we crossed the border. At the last minute we decided to pull off the highway into Waterbury, Vermont for lunch. It was quite small so we sort of expected diner food but we were quite happy when we came across Prohibition Pig– a bbq and classic cocktail joint. If you are anywhere in the Burlington/Stowe Vermont area this is absolutely worth the drive. They do breakfast lunch and dinner and specialize in the most amazing bbq you have ever had (we are definitely experts in the field of BBQ).
As far as restaurants go we didn’t make any reservations beforehand, so everything was going to be on the whim- this ended up being a great approach as it didn’t put any pressure on us to be somewhere at a certain point.
This housemade bacon bbq sauce was one of 4 flavours and levels of spice they had
