As I write this I still cannot get over how much fun this theme was! I am so used to our Christmas parties being a hoot, but pretty standard as far as decorations and a theme goes, since the theme itself is Christmas. This was such a great opportunity to get creative and tap into some of CWM’s favourite things! Hope everyone had as much fun as we did!
For drinks we always follow the same model, a make your own cocktail station and then a punch of some sort. I am a big believer in being present at your party so the first drink will always be offered but from there it’s self serve, this allows the host to socialize, and the guests to feel more comfortable because they don’t have to ask you every time they need something. This time we went with two of CWM’s favourite drinks: martinis and bourbon! This delicious Bourbon Punch recipe can be found, here and the martini set up is shown below
Martini bar essentials:
- lemon peel
- lots of ice
- shot glasses
- bowtie martini glasses
We did a stand up, help yourself dinner, which given the amount of people we had, worked very well!
- Oyster platter from The Whalesbone
- Pulled pork and cornbread sliders
- Mashed potato bar with gravy, hollandaise, grated cheese, and chives
- Our guests’ favourite recipe of mine: maple bacon wrapped sweet potatoes
- Balsamic and basil tomato and bocconcini sticks
- Cream cheese and smoked salmon rollups
- Chicken skewers with peanut sauce
I owe a huge thank you to the amazingly talented Allyssa of Keepstead for this amazing 007, mandarin orange birthday cake! It was more than I could have ever imagined and CWM absolutely loved it. Yum!

I hope you had the best birthday!
